I just got a call from "Publishers Clearinghouse" informing me that I won second prize in a contest I never entered. I listened as he instructed me to go to a Walmart and get a ......... I stopped him and asked how they got my phone number, stating I had never used my work number for such things. I then asked for their call back number to see if it matched the caller ID. He didn't even know what number he called from. I asked for a physical address, something I could check with Publishers Clearinghouse. He stumbled and started fumbling for something to say. I told him to hold on, as my business phone allows me to initiate call tracing due to our government contracts, and I could then verify he was legit. He started spluttering something and hung up. Oh, the fun of dealing with hustlers and scammers. Please remind your friends and family to watch out for scammers on the phones. especially the elderly and people not well read on this subject. Feel free to play with them and mess with them if they call.

ISSA LA Summit 9
I would like to encourage my clients and friends in the industry to consider attending this year's ISSA LA Summit 9 at the Universal City Hilton on May 19th.
For those in the web development industry, make sure you go to Jim Manico's talk. For those in the Healthcare and Dental industries, I would suggest you make the Healthcare talk with Peggy Lee, who is Supervisory EOS at US Department of Health and Human Services. She is an excellent speaker and can get you up to speed on HIPAA as it relates to your business. Whether you are a healthcare provider, or a service company that works with healthcare providers (Business Associate), you will come away with some great information.
I make this conference a yearly event, because the information presented is always great.
Check out the available training on May 18th as well.
See you there,
Dan Hoffman
